LUS isn’t just a youth group, LUS has always played a big role in a lot political topics and like all others they also have their own political views. One of them is the DREAM Act, which has the acronym of Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act. The DREAM Act is bill that would allow undocumented students that arrived to the U.S. as minors to pursue a higher education after high school and obtain a path to citizenship.
Each year it is estimated that 65,000 undocumented students graduate from high school all around the Unites State with hopes and dreams of continuing a higher education. Like all others bills it has its requirements and specifications. In order for students to obtain this they must:
- Have proof of having arrived in the United States before the age of 16.
- Have proof of residence in the United States for a least five consecutive years since their date of arrival, compliance with Selective Service
- Be between the ages of 12 and 35 at the time of bill enactment.
- Have graduated from an American high school or obtained a GED.
- Be of “good moral character”
